COVER LETTER
Dear Sir or Madam:
Since 1996 I have been heavily involved in web and applications development. Shortly after working for my initial clients in Fort Wayne, Indiana, I moved to Denver, Colorado to fully pursue my career in this field.
Over the years I have worked for various corporations using different technologies for a wide range of business ventures. I am well versed in both Microsoft and open-source technologies. My view is that the use of technology is a means to an end: succeeding. Keeping an open mind to all available solutions allows one to make more clear and knowledgeable decisions, which is why I enjoy learning and using different tools, for both clients and my own interests.
During these past years, I have gained immeasurable experience as a Senior/Lead Web and Applications Developer in the ever-changing climate of the technology world. In conclusion, I understand what it takes to design, build and implement projects at various levels and objectives. I work well in team situations or independent projects, and feel I would be a strong asset in any position.
Best Regards,
Jonathan Vukovich
OBJECTIVE
My objective is to be a key senior/lead web and applications developer in a fast-paced work environment. I enjoy working with others and being part of a team. I place communication and team work as a top priority.
WORK EXPERIENCE
 |
| Red Robin Gourmet Burgers |
Senior/Lead Web and Applications Developer |
Englewood, CO (Corporate Office) |
Feb 2006 to Present |
I am currently the primary director for all of Red Robin's web-based applications and projects. Including me, our team consists of two database administrators and another applications developer. We report to the Director of Applications Development and the CIO.
As the senior/lead web and applications developer my responsibilities include: developing web and utility applications in .NET (C#), domain and hosting management, disaster recovery planning, source control management using Subversion (for the entire team), working with SQL Server 2000 and 2005, writing reports using Microsoft Reporting Services and assisting the rest of the team with legacy applications written in Visual Basic 6.
Most of the applications I develop are web-based and are used by the corporation for internal needs. Several tools are used directly by our restaurants (approximately 300 stores) spread out across North America. One of my proudest accomplishments was building a restaurant paging utility. In the restaurant, the manager carries a PDA with them while on the floor. My tool triggers pages (i.e. pager messages) to the manager as the point-of-sale platform identifies important notifications: such as reminding team members to take their breaks or if inventory is running low.
Red Robin's IT department is a diverse, ever-changing climate, with projects ranging across all scopes of the business. My previous positions and experience have brought a solid foundation to provide the team more stability and utilize newer technologies to further support a growing, successful corporation.

Darrell Kauthen, a former co-worker from Quovadx, joined Fresenius Medical Care as their Director of Development in mid-2004. He approached me in late 2005 to see if I could help his development team with a web-based touch screen application they were creating for their kidney dialysis clinics spread out across North America.
I have been their primary user interface developer. I am working with HTML, JavaScript, JSP, Java, Struts, Tiles and Taglibs. The rest of the platform architecture includes Ant, Ajax, FOP, Hibernate, JavaMail, JUnit, Spring, Velocity, oc4j, Oracle (database server) and XDoclet.

| Orange Glo International |
Senior/Lead Web and Applications Developer |
Englewood, CO |
Jan 2004 to Feb 2006 |
I was the senior/lead web and applications developer for Orange Glo International (the makers of OxiClean, Kaboom and other cleaning products). My team consisted of a project manager, database administrator and a quality assurance tester.
I was primarily responsible for in-sourcing an e-commerce platform that was originally developed and maintained by an outsourced vendor. The platform technologies included ASP/VBScript, Commerce Server, SQL Server, and .NET (both C# and VB.NET).
Immediately after the in-sourcing project was complete, my projects consisted of patching and re-writing many parts of the platform. For example, I had to re-write the entire back-end system for processing infomercial orders (.NET / C#). This included credit card authorization integration with a major electronic payment company, customer account management and order management. I was also responsible for various other back-end processes, as well as a customer service application, the main e-commerce site (GreatCleaners.com) and various brand websites (OxiClean.com).
During my two years with Orange Glo, my main goal was to get approval for a complete re-write of the entire e-commerce platform using .NET / C# and SQL Server. I did a lot of research and development with the following tools in order to prepare for the project: ASP.NET, C#, NAnt, NUnit, NDoc, Nini, NCover, FxCop, CruiseControl.NET, Microsoft Enterprise Library Application Blocks (primarily the Data block), log4net, iTextSharp and ReSharper. My background experience with Java was a great foundation for the new platform.
Orange Glo also utilized my technical documentation and analysis experience to organize their projects and estimate appropriate timelines. For example, I reviewed and revised all work / change orders for outsourced development parties (when applicable). I also introduced standard documentation procedures and formats to my management team, who had little to no knowledge in this area when I was hired. More recently, I worked with the development team to adopt the Rational Unified Process. We were primarily planning on using this model for the e-commerce platform re-write.
I was also responsible for configuration management using Visual Source Safe (old repository) and CVS (new repository).
I also played a strong roll as the backup graphic designer. For example, our main designer was on maternity leave for quite some time, so not only was I responsible for all development, I also had to create banner ads, web designs and marketing prints.
My tremendous amount of responsibility at Orange Glo truly highlights my ability to handle multiple tasks and utilize a wide range of skill sets. My bi-yearly review documents are available upon request.
In February 2006, the company shifted their business plans to focus on retail sales and projects. My team was split apart and integrated into the retail IT department. The future of my position was unclear, so I accepted an offer with Red Robin Gourmet Burgers as their senior/lead web and applications developer.
Orange Glo immediately hired me as a contractor to continue maintaining their applications and systems as needed.
A letter of recommendation is also available upon request.

| Quovadx |
Senior/Lead Web and Applications Developer |
Englewood, CO |
Jun 2001 to Nov 2003 |
At Quovadx, I worked with development teams on various projects. My position required highly adaptive skill sets, as I had many projects and responsibilities. On some projects, I was designated as the only web designer. For example, I solely developed the entire user interface for a Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan patient care application.
Research and development was also one of my strongest skills with this company. I developed many solutions and approaches that have helped both clients and internal departments. For example, I created a correspondence solution that utilized rich text documents. The system would merge data into rich text document templates to be printed systematically or locally within a J2EE web application. This discovery and design resulted with sales leads and drastically helped sway over a million-dollar client contract.
Other clients I worked with through Quovadx included Sony, Healthnet, Cigna, Aetna, MedUnite and ProPath.
My utilized skills included XML, XSLT, XSP, HXML, Oracle, PHP, MySQL, Tomcat, WebLogic, Java, CVS, CSS, HTML, JavaScript, Linux, Solaris, graphic design and extensive research and development.
I was let go due to a reduction in work force. A letter of recommendation is available upon request.

I worked directly with various clients, primarily transportation department government agencies, to estimate time, develop, debug, and deploy large-scale web applications. The main technologies I used at FCG were ASP, IIS, Visual Basic, SQL Server, HTML and JavaScript.
I was referred to Quovadx by Paul Janney, a former co-worker from GrowZone and who is now a lead designer at Land's End, as his replacement at Quovadx.
